Averin Peredhil (Three) (Old) by Winters-Dawn1221
Averin Peredhil (Three) (Old)
Well, at least I'm consistent in coloring and general costume, right?

I remember this. This one is actually from late 2014 when I was experimenting with frontal face shape. I don't think I ever got to uploading it because she looks rather round and younger me found that embarrassing. I can kinda drew faces now, so it's all cool.

I do love her circlet, it's very Skyrim-esque for an Oblivion character. Although, now that I think of it, she looks kinda potato like. Maybe this is what Averin has truly looked like this whole time and I never knew. Huh. I also missed her little red gem.

She looks like a cat.

...I guess Mrs. Clamal-dust would have to have had a thing with a Khajiit or something for Averin to turn out like this. Thank God I didn't stick with this style beyond one drawing...piece of paper (there was a lineart of Valaina that looked very similar to this on the same page and no one needs to see that). This is about spring 2014, or fall 2013. I didn't often date things back then.

Avy's hair is nice though, so there is that. I guess.

Do not ask me to explain why I feel the need to upload a bunch of old artwork from that period of time when I was learning to draw more than just childhood scribblings. Just know that there's a lot.

I guess this is what they call "airing your drawers" or something.

Averin Peredhil is my Champion of Cyrodiil, Hero of Kvatch, and Leara Rose-blade's grandmother. I haven't drawn her much since I joined dA, so I can easily date this as being from the summer of 2013. Dang. That feels like yesterday. What the crap... Ahem, anyway. I actually drew this, a picture of Marelen, a picture of Leara, and a picture of (Averin's then cousin) Alana Ever-Fair all in a weekend. I would like to say that doing that helped me, with what, I dunno, but I'm sure it helped me somewhere.

At least I've learned proportions since then, eh?

Here's how it goes:

Take your eldest, or most currently developed OC.
Your OC started from somewhere, from some random idea that blossomed into something much greater. So here's the chance to share those awkward beginnings to their current successful (or less so) selves!

To start, tell us their name:
In the beginning it was Valaina Divinesword. Now, however, it's Faenil Celeblas.

How did you develop their name?
I found the supposed Sindarin version of the name Diana on the Council of Elrond website. Diana, it said, means divine and translated into Elvish as Valaina. I thought it was pretty and so she ended up with the lovely though pretentious name Valaina Divinesword. When I revised/overhauled her character, however, I went to Realelvish.net where they try their darnedest to stick to Tolkien's Elvish. Valaina was always a silver/white haired Elf of partial Wood Elven decent so when I found Faenil "White Radiance" and Celeblas "Silver Leaf", those names stuck.

Why did you first make this character?
Valaina was originally meant to be me in Middle-earth, though that eventually became split between her and Calil-Gadien/Morilindë Náretar and they developed into their own different selves. When the Hobbit came out and I became a Thorin fangirl, Valaina became his love interest in my little fanfic world. She's been stuck to him in some shape or form ever since.

How long have you had this character?
Er. Six years? Five? ...maybe? I think it was Valaina who's been around since late 2011/early 2012 and Morilindë who has been around longer. She became Faenil in 2014.

Why did you keep this character/Why were they so special to you?
When I grew out of my self insert/Mary Sue/Legomance/etc phase, I didn't want to get rid of Valaina all together, or her story, so I just adapted it to better fit a more refined mindset. I had spent a whole summer plotting out her life,, back in the beginning, and I guess I didn't want my time to have gone to waste.

Tell us your OC's beginning development to her current development (briefly please):
Valaina started out as a mirrored, Elvish version of me for Middle-earth before I made her out to be the Mithril Aranel (Princess of Grey Brilliance), a maiden with extraordinary powers over gems and metal work. She basically stayed the same, then, just marrying Thorin in an extra twist for my tale. She then turned into Faenil, who isn't something so crazy, and who doesn't have a pretentious name, and she is currently amnesic until I decide where she goes from there.

On a scale of 1 to 10, how dramatically would you say your OC changed from their origin?
Let's go with...seven. Because she still looks the same (okay, that's a lie, she gained eleven inches in height) and she's retained a lot of her base personality and she is still the youngest daughter of Elrond and Celebrían (how original), but literally everything else...her age, her childhood, her emotions, her romance, and her name, even, have changed and developed a lot! Kinda sucks how none of y'all got to see it. Or maybe that's for the best...

Is this your main OC, or are they not as special (but special enough not to throw away)?
She used to be, and I would like to think that it is more than just special sentimental reasons that keep me from scrapping her all together, but my Elder Scrolls characters have taken precedence over my Lord of the Rings OCs and I think Valaina/Faenil will never have the top position like she used to.

How do you see their future?
Faenil will eventually get over her amnesia and go in search for the three of her five children that I did end up scrapping (one was actually named Avarin) while shedding enough tears to make an ocean out of a desert. Or something strangely poetic and fairy tale like that.

A Sigh - Artanis Felagund (Outline) by Winters-Dawn1221
A Sigh - Artanis Felagund (Outline)
I was off gallivanting at my aunt's house for a week and a half when I sat down to draw this. My other Artanis reference pictures were all at home, so I had to wing it from memory with her hair. I'm going to color her. Later. Maybe.

So here we have Artanis, the lovely *cough*scary*cough* Bosmer, sighing (or moaning, my dad actually thought she was going to kiss someone... :| ), probably because of some painful memory or such. She's got a lot of them.

I am so, so proud of her mouth and her nose! I mean look at them! Love them! ... don't touch them, Arty finds that creepy.

Hey, she kinda looks like a Disney Princess...wow, that would quickly turn into Throne of Glass...

Hi...!

I'm a writer and artist who usually has better luck sticking to coloring books and reading, but that doesn't stop me from trying to do the very best I can with my passions!

What You Should Expect

:bulletblack: If I Watch you, I'm likely to partially stalk your gallery too.
:bulletpurple: If I favorite your work, it's because I think you did spectacular, even if I don't outright say it.
:bulletwhite: If I comment on your work, it means that I have done the impossible in finding the words to tell you why it's brilliant.
:bulletpurple: I appreciate each of my watchers and every last favorite and comment! well, not so much the trolls, you understand.
:bulletblack: I may not be the most consistent of people, but never take that to assume I'm abandoning something. My work takes time.
:bulletpurple: I love conversations! And despite if it takes me a while to get back to you, I'm not done talking, I assure you.

What You Never Wanted To Know About Me

:bulletwhite: I play the violin and sing. There's also piano lessons somewhere in there, but...bleh.
:bulletpurple: I can't drive, but if I could, I'd drive a navy blue corvette with a hard top and ivory leather seats.
:bulletblack: I read a lot, that's where I've learned most of my writing skills.
:bulletpurple: I fangirl a lot, especially over The Elder Scrolls, Marvel, Doctor Who, and The Hobbit/Lord of the Rings. Don't diss my sci-fi/fantasy.
:bulletwhite: C. S. Lewis is my favorite writer of nonfiction (and Narnia!) and J. R. R. Tolkien is my favorite fiction writer. Everyone else falls after them.
:bulletpurple: If I had a favorite constellation, it'd be Dephinus, the Dolphin, because I love dolphins.
:bulletblack: Leara is pronounced Lee-air-uh. I spent over an hour tracing the real name Leara's possible origins and have since decided that it'd mean Light of the Sea.

Anything Else...

:bulletpurple: I don't think so...oh!
:bulletwhite: ...feel free to send me a note anytime or browse my gallery!
:bulletpurple: Thank you!
:bulletblack: :huggle:

You're welcome! I don't really like AC/DC, but that sing is strangely appropriate for what happened.
